What is it?
The 2017-2018 FAFSA will be available October 1, 2016 for students and parents to fill out. That's 3 months earlier than the traditional January 1st FAFSA start date.
Additionally, the 2017-2018 FAFSA uses your 2015 tax information.

Why are these changes important?
- Students will be able to complete the FAFSA in the same timeframe as their college applications.
- Students and parents will have more time to resolve any income verification requirements or other requests from the financial aid office.
- Starting October 1st, the majority of 2015 taxes will have been completed. Which allows more students and parents to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool instead of estimating income information.
